Course Description

This course goes beyond shooting fundamentals to cover:

• Mindset for Self-Defense: Preparing mentally for high-pressure situations.
• Legal Considerations: Understanding the laws surrounding possession, ownership, and the use of deadly force.
• Home Defense Strategies: Planning and executing measures to protect your home and family.

The class uses the defensive pistol as its primary tool and includes intensive lessons and discussions. Students will also receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection in the Home handbook.

Prerequisites

This course is intended for experienced shooters who have demonstrated safe gun handling and basic marksmanship. Students must meet the following criteria:

• Provide proof of shooting experience, such as:
  • NRA Basic Pistol Course certificate
  • NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program certificate
  • Pistol qualification card
  • DD 214 with pistol qualification
  • Concealed Carry Permit
• Complete a pre-course evaluation if necessary, demonstrating:
  • Safe gun handling.
  • Shooting a series of five-shot groups.
  • Basic pistol operations.
  • Proper handgun cleaning techniques.
• Must be mature, law-abiding adults with the seriousness and mindset required for self-defense training.

Course Completion

To successfully complete the course, students must:

• Participate in practical shooting exercises with instructor feedback.
• Pass a written exam and meet shooting standards.
• Receive individual progress evaluations throughout the course.

Certification:
Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate that validates their training in personal protection.

Class Details

• Course Length: 10 hours (includes a 1-hour lunch break).

  • $232.00 per person (credit card or check).
• Included Materials:
  • Range time and shooting instruction.
  • Ammunition for 9mm and .22 (students may use their own firearms if preferred).
  • Eye and ear protection.
  • Targets.
  • NRA handbook and certificate of completion.
